Sara Bilezikian Fellow

  • Mina Ezikpe is a community organizer, public defender, and movement educator based in Charlotte. Her work centers abolitionist struggle, political education, and grassroots power-building through direct action, movement lawyering, and strategic campaigns. She is a scholar of social change, committed to knowledge produced through co-struggle with frontline communities, and to developing collective capacity that strengthens autonomous, decentralized movements.

MEMBERS

  • Xavier T. de Janon (he/him) is an attorney, organizer, and community member who believes in a world without prisons, police, and borders. He has great experience with politicized legal cases and movement organizing. Xavier supports political defendants inside and outside courtrooms across the South. He is a licensed attorney in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

  • Jamie Marsicano organizes with prisoners, criminal defendants, and parents separated from their children to fight their cases. Having been a political defendant in the Cop City RICO, Jamie believes in the power of participatory, community-driven legal strategies to change individual case outcomes and challenge the larger system as a whole.

  • Janki Kaneria (she/her) is a fighter who centers the humanity of her clients in all her legal cases. To her, all defendants are political defendants. Her creative tactics in and out of the courtroom have led to successful outcomes in criminal and civil matters.
