Who we are
The People's Law Collective (PLC) is a collective of organizers, lawyers, and legal workers providing free services for people facing state repression across the South.
We are political, participatory, and aggressive, both inside and outside the courtroom.
Our clients are our co-counsel: Clients and their communities are as essential to winning as we are.
We fight for the fighters.
PLC uses a co-director model. Our collective’s members reflect the communities directly impacted by the systems we fight: queer, femme, immigrant, BIPOC, formerly incarcerated, first-generation.
Our organizers are nimble, and our attorneys are licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. We proactively work with local counsel in other jurisdictions to advance our mission.
We believe that we expand our impact by prioritizing those that face the most attacks from the State. Because of this, we currently prioritize organizing with and representing political defendants. We look forward to growing our program to provide more services to more individuals and communities across the South.
