• The People's Law Collective (PLC) is a grassroots organizing and legal nonprofit. We support individuals and communities facing State repression, criminalization, and disenfranchisement in the South of the United States through:

    • Community organizing

    • Legal representation and advocacy

    • Impact litigation

    • Holistic and wraparound services 

    • Public education on relevant legal issues.

    Our attorneys are licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. We proactively work with local counsel in other jurisdictions to advance our mission.

  • PLC utilizes a two-prong approach to advance our mission:

    (1) Organizing Work: Advocacy, education, and movement-building on the ground.

    (2) Legal Work: Aggressive, creative, and political representation through a participatory, community-driven model.

    Our two-prong strategy ensures that we advocate against State repression at all points of intervention, centering the voices of those directly impacted and their loved ones.

We believe that we expand our impact by prioritizing those that face the most attacks from the State. Because of this, we currently prioritize organizing with and representing political defendants. We look forward to growing our program to provide more services to more individuals and communities across the South.
